This morning, I had an epiphany. You know how futurists are always telling us that one day we will have a pill that will give us all the nutrients we need? It's never gonna work.
Have you ever heard of someone complaining about eating? "Crap! Again? I just ate a few hours ago!!! Why do I feel hungry again? Stupid body! I wish I didn't have to eat!!" No. Instead, we have throngs of people that throng to upscale restaurants to pay 3x's the price for an animal or plant that is prepared in a specific way so that those little bumps on our tongues will send out signals to our brains. People are paying MORE for food that TASTES better. Not for healthier food. If anything, the food at these places are probably worse for you.
So no, nobody in the future will voluntarily eat a meal-in-a-pill. Given the choice, which would you rather eat? A steak or a pill? Exactly. The only thing I can envision it being used for is military, space, or poverty reasons.
You know what would be cool though? If they made meal-in-a-pills with different flavors.
